Club Information
Many years ago Arthur Bayley hosted a casual, weekly chess club in his apartment.
It was a semi structured format with pairings and club ratings. There were clocks, and we played in 30 minute time controls which allowed for a few games. It brought in a wide mix of folks from young to old. It was my first taste of the local chess scene and I was hooked.
Looking back on it, it seemed like a thankless role. Now that I am older I recognize how pivotal those games in Arthur's apartment were to shaping my love for the game. Younger me didn't pause long enough to express my thanks to Art and it's a regret I carry. The Fargo Chess Club is our way to give back to the community and carry on Art's format for the next generation of players.
