Club Club Update 9/22/21

We are three weeks into Chess Club. It's been fun so far.

There have been about 15 rated G:30 matches so far.
We will formulate "club ratings" after a player has played 20 matches. On our way. Soon we will start getting the results of each weeks club rated games online.

Seeing various ages and skill levels among our players, from a 15 year old, to a 50 year old. We have been putting a chess puzzle on display each each for folks to solve. With some harder puzzles, awarding prizes. mmmmmmm starburst. 🙂

We are starting to see familiar faces come back each week. We are hoping in the next couple months to host our first USCF rated tournament. If you don't have your USCF membership current, it might not be a bad time to get that going.

A local establishment owner has floated the idea of allowing us to host the tournament at their establishment. Which seems like a great idea. The club space is great for club, but for a tournament we really would prefer a bit more room, especially for a skittles area in between matches.

In regards to the space, we are starting to get some art on the walls, and expect to paint in the next couple weeks.

As a reminder, when coming into or leaving the space, please remember to be cognizant of the fact that the space is in a residential area. While we currently stop club at 10, we would rather not have to stop club earlier because we are disturbing our neighbors.

Onwards!
